Adoption California Process Does Not Discriminate

Adoption California parents come in all types of family dynamics.

In California, sexual orientation is not a barrier to adoption.  Same sex adoption California parents may adopt a child from foster care.  One such couple used the services of a California adoption agency to adopt a child that had a mild form of autism.  After placement, the child thrived and learned valuable communication skills that were lacking while in foster care.  This same sex couple and their new child form a very happy, functioning family unit.  It is a myth that children of same sex couples are not as advantaged as children of traditional family units.  What each child needs is a loving, nurturing, supportive environment, and this environment can be created with same sex or traditional partnerships.

Adoption California protocol also extends to single parents.  This does not mean just women.  Single men are welcome to adopt as well.  In fact, one fourth of adoptees from foster care are placed with single parents.

Families that rent their homes but do not own them are not barred from the adoption California process.  The caseworker(s) consider the love, support and guidance you can offer the child and whether your home has enough room to safety and comfortably house all family members.  Ownership of the home is not a consideration as long as the proper insurance is maintained.

Age is also not a restrictive factor.  In fact, older adoption California parents may be more suitable for older children. With couples and singles in their 40s or 50s, caseworkers look for health, vitality, and energy; something that many in this age bracket have in abundance!

Children are taught that people come in all shapes and sizes.  Families come in all shapes and sizes too!  It does not matter if you are old or young, what your sexual orientation is or if you own a home and have a large disposal income.  What matters the most is your desire to be a good parent.  When you desire to be a parent, you will atomically look to satisfy the needs of your child above all else.  You understand the balance of being the child’s friend as well as their guardian.  You know that discipline is a necessary part of their good development right along with fruits, veggies and outdoor exercise.  The desire to be a good parent does not hinge on your sexuality, bank account, or age.  It is something that you feel in your heart.

There will always be discrimination in this world.  Others may feel that same sex, older, or moderate income parents should not be able to adopt.  Thankfully, this archaic way of thinking is becoming less and less prevalent as people realize that we all look different, but we all have the same heart.  All a child needs is love and care.  You do not have to fit a certain mold to provide that.  The adoption California process makes sure that every qualifying individual has the chance to adopt and make their families whole.
