Road Haulage Companies And The Benefits Of Heavy Cars

With the price being so high, and the low mileage of Lorries, many have wondered why road haulage companies are not using small vans for their business. Why the haulage companies are wasting so much money on buying Lorries for work that could be easily handled by Vans?

Essentially, there are two basic answers: efficiency and expediency. In the most of the cases a van could deliver the goods, but when there are extremely many delivers in a short period of time, the issue becomes a bit complicated. If a lorry has the space to deliver as six vans, then those six vans will be dispatched. In plus, six vans needs six drivers, so, for a company, the cost for a lorry are much cheaper than the costs for vans.

So, using the above scenario for tens of deliveries, what happens if the delivery is made hundreds of miles away? Hauling companies a trying to avoid all the "deadheading", the term meaning to return without a load. The fuel used for a load is charged by the costumer, but the fuel used for returning it is not. That is why road haulage on the retro urn needs to minimize costs. Only because the loads needed for out-going will fit into the van, that doesn't mean that the loads available for the return will be. So, in plus to the extra drivers, the company will need to pay for the empty vans that are returning.

Enormous loads always can be handled by Lorries. But many abnormal loads are way too big for a van. Others will be small but very heavy, so the van's suspension won't resist. Some loads are so heavy that they are restricted to go on rush hours, and can only work only night when the traffic is less. Also because of the weight, many local authorities allow the Lorries to cross a bridge that is devoid of traffic.

So, by having vehicles that are able of hauling a variety of loads, the company is always in a better state if it's keeping the drivers and the vehicles busy. In this business, the money are made only when the wheels are turning. Because of lorries' payments and insurances the lack of shipments doesn't obscure the company from making money, but also causes it to lose money. Only if you are having a powerful company, that has nonstop orders , then you should make the next step and buy yourself some Lorries.
