The New BMW X1: The Latest Compact SUV

In 2009, the BMW X1, dubbed a Sports Activity Vehicle, made its debut in Europe. It became clear that the X1, like other vehicles produced by BMW, lived up to the promise of producing entry level cars that challenged and reinvented traditional car segments - something that luxury car companies like Audi and Mercedes-Benz have tried and failed to do. Now that it has finally arrived in Canada, and despite its success in Europe, many people question whether the X1 was worth the long wait.

You even have access to the BMW Assist call centre through GPS and wireless phone technology.

The X1 performs amazingly off-road. Promising spontaneity and versatility, the X1 can withstand all conditions; if you’re planning to go skiing, golfing or surfing, you don’t have to rent a car to reach your destination. This sport activity vehicle will take you there, without you having to worry about an engine breakdown, or other damage.

The exterior design is just as striking as other models in the X series—with lateral lines, a sloping rear windshield that makes it look like a hatchback and a uniquely shaped hood—all these give the X1 a distinct look without being awkward. The interior made of excellent, high-end material promises comfort at its best, with a relaxed driving position and intuitive controls.

The ultimate goal of BMW is to sell more than 20 million units annually before 2020—and the X1 is proving to be an important part of the big picture. As a matter of fact, the BMW X1 has been experiencing very high sales since 2009, as it has sold out in every market where it’s available. Its US release was even indefinitely delayed because BMW just can’t keep up with the demand. It’s almost hard to believe that a luxury car can manage to sell as many units when the economy isn’t exactly in top condition but the X1 has done it. With excellent after sales support and windshield replacement for a low price, many people are considering the X1 to be the compact SUV of choice.
